Challenge

Our client had a WooCommerce Subscription based website. They wanted so that their customer email entries are synced with their MailChimp account. They also wanted so that the users are grouped under certain groups based on their subscription status.

Our task mainly was to:

Group users based on their subscription status in MailChimp
Change user group in MailChimp when their status changes
Ensure that integration respects MailChimp for WooCommerce, WC and WC Subscriptions
Implement a initial sync feature to synchronize 17000+ subscribers into MailChimp
Ensure backend settings for everything implemented

Our Solution

The project was simple with some fair amount of details and a lot of testing ahead.

Here’s how we solved the problem:

User Groups

Client had separate groups in mind for MailChimp. This was crucial to keep track of the 17000+ users they had on their MailChimp account. Each group for each status of the subscription. Users were there already but they were not grouped accordingly.

Groups Based on Status

In a subscription based environment it is common to change status of the subscription. When subscription status changes, client wanted that the group of the user should change too, to sync with MailChimp better. We used hooks related to status change for this feature.

Support for Existing Setup

Client had MailChimp for WooCommerce installed. It already had API information input, so we had to share the information with the plugin. We also had to make sure that we maintain a compatibility with the way the plugin lists users, so that it remains consistent.

Initial Sync

Our client had 17000+ users on their MailChimp account. It was already synced to MailChimp using MailChimp for WooCommerce plugin. But the group changes were not applied there. We can handle new ones, no problem. But we had to take care of those existing users. So we had we implement a Sync feature for those initial records.

Backend Settings

We had to implement settings on the backend to allow for a better control. We implemented backend settings pages for the initial sync and MailChimp integration. We implemented pause resume feature for the initial sync so that the operation can be resumed for this lengthy task.

Putting it all together

At the end we delivered WC Subscription Sync system with automated grouping in MailChimp and initial sync feature. We hope it provided useful automation for our client.

Challenge

Our client had a plain job list on their website. They wanted to turn it into a job application system for the potential employees. They wanted to integrate JobAdder API to make things easier. They wanted so that new participants can register and apply for a job and additionally have the applicants on a MailChimp mailing list for later.

Our task mainly was to:

Integrate JobAdder API with WordPress
Implement submission of data to JobAdder API
Implement a registration form to enlist to JobAdder
Implement a MailChimp integration
Add backend settings for everything implemented

Our Solution

The project was simple with many things to integrate and test.

Here’s how we solved the problem:

JobAdder Integration

We had the job to integrate JobAdder with the WordPress. This way the integration is more accessible and managable on the user end. WordPress acts like a tool to hold various frontend and backend forms and interfaces to gather data. Our interface was there so that the employement process can shift to JobAdder interface on later stages.

JobAdder Data Submission

We built a data submission system to submit XML data for JobAdder. This used to be troublesome and needed FTP access to submit the data. We have built an interface which makes this process easier.

Registration Form

We have implemented a registration form for the new candidates on the website. The form has a range of fields that is presented and the data is submitted to JobAdder. Client can then carry on the next steps of the process from JobAdder.

MailChimp Integration

When a new participant is registered, he is automatically added to a MailChimp mailing list. Client wanted MailChimp integration into the implementation so that users are easily reachable in future if needed. MailChimp also makes mass email announcements easier.

Backend Settings

We added backend settings so that client can change things without our help. These settings include API settings for the integrations we implemented.

Putting it all together

At the end, we delivered a website with better integration with the JobAdder API that had aids better in managing new candidates.

Challenge

Our client had a Divi based website in which they wanted to integrate many things. They wanted Zendesk integration with their contact form, MailChimp integration with some other contact feature and download options, Paddle payment method integration with Paddle.js and some other minor adjustments. There was a lot of integrations and testing to be done, so we went right into work.

Our task mainly was to:

Integrate Zendesk into the contact form
Integrate MailChimp with subscribe option
Integrate Paddle payment method with Paddle.js
Implement backend settings for the API integrations
Apply some minor changes to the design
Testing all the integrations so that it works fine together

Our Solution

Here’s how we solved the problem:

Zendesk Integration

We integrated Zendesk into the contact form so that every contact entry can be handled professionally with support executives. We also added some helpful prefix when adding the entry so that entries coming from contact form can stand out from the other support requests.

MailChimp Integration

We have worked with MailChimp before, the experience of which aided us in the way. Client had a form with name and email fields. We used the form to subscribe the user into MailChimp. We kept the changes inside our plugin so that it does not cause issues with updates.

Paddle Payment Integration

Paddle is an automated payment and billing system of which our client was a big fan of. We integrated the payment with Paddle.js into the website. We used the paddle.js from original paddle.com website so that it applies the bug fixes and updates automatically.

Backend Settings

We have implemented backend settings for all of our integrations. We have allowed for the API keys and settings to be changed easily if needed, so that the client can easily change API settings in future, without having to consult us again for the change.

Minor Design Changes

Our client was using Divi to style pages. They had different layouts for different pages implemented with Divi builder. They wanted us to apply some minor changes regarding some icons, which we did happily.

Putting it all together

When we finished, we delivered a better integration-oriented website with features working the way client wanted.

Challenge

Our client was looking for a team who can create a story subscription system that sends stories every friday to members through a email service. For managing these emails easily, they were looking for an integration with an email newsletter service, like AWeber or something similar. Another requirement was that it has to support 7 languages. These sounded like a new kind of challenge to us. So we took the job.

Our task mainly was to:

Choose the appropriate Mailing API
Make sure that email subscription API works with WooCommerce
Make the email service Multilingual to support 7 languages
Store Custom Fields with entries
Automatic adding and removing of users from the mailing list based on subscription status
Make it compatible with variable subscriptions for 2 payment intervals

Our Solution

This is a fairly simple project with many sweet and complex details. We had to approach the project as a whole when planning. We had to make sure that our plan covers all the aspects – frontend, backend and email delivery – when the project is finished.

Here’s how we solved the problem:

Choosing the right API

We’ve had discussions with client. And our client decided that Mailchimp suited better for our needs than AWeber. It has a better interface, better documentation, better categorization etc. We also needed to add additional information with the entries to differentiate between persons – support for which was great on MailChimp.

Email Subscription + WooCommerce

There were plugins like Memberpress for this. But it did not support WooCommerce – which was required by our client to maintain the subscriptions. In order to maintain the multilingual nature of the project, we went in and worked on our own integration with WC, which works with WC Memberships + WC Subscriptions.

Multilingual Emails

MailChimp helped us on the way. MailChimp has a good segmentation feature which we utilized for categorization. We simplified the process by preparing 7 separate lists for 7 languages. It made it simple for us to integrate and simple for client to manage.

Custom Fields with Entries

We needed to have various data attached to the entries to make it link with the Subscriptions and users on WP. MailChimp API has a way to attach the data with “Custom Fields” which made it easy for us. We also attached some other minor information, which can then be used inside the emails. A nice thing to have to create engaging emails.

User Management with Subscription Status

We had to use WC Subscription hooks to make sure that the user is listed only when he is subscribed to the service from the WordPress side of things. We had to test extensively for all the situations that might occur regarding the subscription status scenario. Client was helpful to setup a staging for us which helped us through the testing. We used normal subscription process with test payment method and Scheduled Actions combined to test the subscription.

Putting it all together

And the end result was beautiful. A seamless automatic story subscription system supporting multilanguage was born in our hands.

It was a complex but interesting project. We had fun developing it.
